Yesterday Mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs announced his launch of his new cable network, Revolt! The network will center around music similar to Bet or MTV. Hopefully they will play videos, because that is lacking nowadays.
I applaud Diddy for being a black man owning his own Cable network, but it ain’t easy. Just ask Oprah. Trashy reality shows dominate TV so it will be interesting to see if Diddy goes into that lane. Will you be Watching?
SWV is back and better than ever with a new video for their hit single, Co-sign! SWV will release a new album, I Miss US will be released on April 10. I truly have missed these girls. The 90′s music is Back, Thank God!
As you all know by now, Whitney Elizabeth Houston passed away on Saturday, February 11th at the young age of 48. Whitney was scheduled to make an appearance at the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy party that night. I am shocked and very saddened. I am having a hard time with this. I used to sing at talent shows and school events, and I always used to sing Whitney’s songs. Whitney was apart of my childhood. Her songs were the background of my life. I wanted to be Whitney Houston. I wanted her voice and her beauty. Whitney commanded a stage like no other, and she wasn’t even a dancer. Whitney wasn’t a recluse. She was everywhere and always kind to her fans. Whitney is the greatest singer of my lifetime. She could sing gospel, pop, rnb, and had a range like an opera singer.Whitney was the true definition of a Diva and was it was to be a star. She was regal. When she walked into a room her presence alone made such an impact. And Whitney sang whether she was top notch or not. No auto-tune or lip-syching necessary. Her legacy will live on through her music. What can I say about a woman that has meant so much to me and this world. I never saw this coming. I always thought that she would be with us forever. Whitney we will always love you. I pray for Bobbi Christina and her entire family and dear friends.
I’m not even 30 yet and in my lifetime, we have lost Aaliyah, Biggie, Tupac, Lefteye, Heavy D, Nate Dog, Michael Jackson, Amy Whinehouse, and many others from my childhood until now. I am so tired of this. Enough is Enough.
Jennifer Hudsen did a wonderful job paying tribute to Ms. Houston at this year’s Grammy’s by singing Whitney’s massive hit, I Will Always Love You! It was clear and classy. Jennifer wasn’t trying to show off, she sang in a very respectful way.
“It’s got all the hallmarks of a M.I.A. song: Punjabi-tinged production, deadpan delivery, booming drums, lyrics about having sex in cars, etc. This is some real hype shit! Turn it up and go punch a cop. I’m betting this new one will break her all over again.” – Blackbook Mag
Patti Labelle belted out her hits at this year’s Superbowl Village in Indianapolis singing her hits, LadyMarmalade, If You Asked Me To, and even did a tribute to Michael Jackson by singing the Earth Song. Many endured the frigid weather just to see Ms. Patti sing, and folks said it was well worth it.
This is vintage video of the legend, Toni Braxton singing her heart on Unbreak My Heart, during an AOL live session, with sisters Tamar and Trina as backup. The funny thing about this video is that clearly Tamar and Trina seemed uninterested and not feeling it.com They looked so tired singing their “boop, shoop, Bops” However, no one can deny Toni’ s excelerating vocals, Yes, Tamar, Toni is a “heavyweight”
In the visual for Turn Me On, David Guetta brings his dolls(Nicki Minjaj) to life, but he in fact is not human and made of steel. I love the concept and video, but is Nicki becoming overkill! She is expected to release a new album later this year, Roman Reloaded!
This video is super funny, but true. This is what most of us relaxed girls think about Natural Girls! I love the part when she says, we got to get out the rain, Rain is like a Relaxed girl’s nightmare!
Love and hip-hop songtress, Olivia released a video for her song, Walk Away, which was featured on the show. I like the video, because it addresses a serious issue in the black community, Domestic Violence, and sadly many woman cannot just walk away from their abusive partners.
If you are in an abusive situation both mentally or physically please contact the National Domestic Hotline for help!
