Does Money Talk??? Mayor Nutter $20,000 Bounty!

“Mayor Nutter hopes an aggressive use of cash rewards will prompt more community cooperation with preventing crimes – possibly enough to help stem a homicide rate that has flared to a troubling level this month.

From now on, the city will offer $500 for information leading police to an illegal gun and up to $20,000 for information leading to an arrest in any homicide.

“To every criminal out there: I just put a $20,000 bounty on your head,” Nutter said at a news conference Thursday at Strawberry Mansion High School in North Philadelphia. “We are coming for you. We will find you. People will give up that information.”Source

Philadelphia already has 31 murders for the year, and it’s only January 27. I commend Mayor Nutter for addressing these issues, but It’s not the answer. If citizens speak out will they be protected. That is the bigger issue. I don’t want to go the police for information and risk losing my life, that’s exactly what happened to  Rosemary Fernandez-Rivera who was shot and killed after giving information about a  suspect to Philadelphia dectectives this week. More Police trust and protection is sorely needed. Philly we have got to get it together. Stop the Violence, PLEASE.

Dr. King’s Legacy Lives On

Please take this day to reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. King. It is so easy to forget that life for blacks and other minorities lacked humane civil rights. The last speech of Dr. King were he predicted that blacks would see the “promise land”, and admitted that he may not see it with us. Shortly after this chilling and powerful speech, Dr. King was assassinated. If it wasn’t for Dr. King and other Civil Rights pioneers, then we wouldn’t have President Obama seated in the highest office today.
