Does Money Talk??? Mayor Nutter $20,000 Bounty!

“Mayor Nutter hopes an aggressive use of cash rewards will prompt more community cooperation with preventing crimes – possibly enough to help stem a homicide rate that has flared to a troubling level this month.

From now on, the city will offer $500 for information leading police to an illegal gun and up to $20,000 for information leading to an arrest in any homicide.

“To every criminal out there: I just put a $20,000 bounty on your head,” Nutter said at a news conference Thursday at Strawberry Mansion High School in North Philadelphia. “We are coming for you. We will find you. People will give up that information.”Source

Philadelphia already has 31 murders for the year, and it’s only January 27. I commend Mayor Nutter for addressing these issues, but It’s not the answer. If citizens speak out will they be protected. That is the bigger issue. I don’t want to go the police for information and risk losing my life, that’s exactly what happened to  Rosemary Fernandez-Rivera who was shot and killed after giving information about a  suspect to Philadelphia dectectives this week. More Police trust and protection is sorely needed. Philly we have got to get it together. Stop the Violence, PLEASE.

Highlights of the 16th Annual MLK Day of Service @ Girard College

The Phillyitgirls had the honor to attend the 16th annual MLK day of service at Girard College yesterday. The turnout was amazing. It was great to see the community come out and volunteer and work together.  There was a carnival, face painting, martial arts demonstation, free massages, vendors, and non-profits from numorous organizations that attended. Representatives from Congress, city council, and Mayor Nutter attended the festivities. Check out our Photo Gallery and Video featuring the President of Girard College, and hear us discuss the true meaning of Dr. King’s dream.

Mayor Nutter Accused of Not Being Black Enough By John Street.

image

According to thegrio.com, Mayor Nutter’s “black card” is in question by former Mayor Street. Nutter fired back and claims that improving education is his main priority in Philadelphia, and believes, “the comments are a distraction…Street is facing a scandal…” with the Philadelphia Housing Authority.

What is black? What is white? I am tired of this question. Intellect, is that a white trait? NO. The issue at hand is doing what is best for the city. Mayor Nutter is not the Mayor for just the blacks citizens, but for everyone who resides in Philadelphia.
