Inquirer Sports Columnist, Frank Fitzpatrick to Speak @ The Free Library of Phila

Dear Senior Center Friend:

As you know, we are in the midst of our series “Philadelphia 2112,” in which guest experts peer into the future and make thoughtful guesses about what life in our city might be like 100 years from now. To date, we’ve explored population and politics, the world of art and culture and the battle against crime. On Wednesday, June 27 at 11:00 A.M., our focus will be on the professional sports scene in Philadelphia a century from now. Our guest will be Inquirer Sports Columnist and Pulitzer Prize finalist Frank Fitzpatrick. Will “new” sports with few Philadelphia fans in 2012 be more important in the future? Might some of the teams that we are passionate about today simply cease to exist in the next century? Frank Fitzpatrick believes that some clues to our sports future can be found by exploring the past. Please join us in Room # 108 for this compelling, free program!  What is your role in the world of sports?

I am a sports publicist, I assist, manage, with everything from A-Z, overseeing daily functions of  the athlete. I choose to be hands on.

How is it being a female in the sports industry that tends to be dominated by males?

First of all, I never thought  that I would be working in the sports industry.  When I first started out I had someone tell me, “You’re attractive, use what you got to get what you want.” I don’t believe in that motto. My education has earned me the respect from the males in this industry. I would describe myself as the real “Tosha Mack” of the BET series,  The Game.

Are the Reality shows Football Wives and Basketball Wives Real?

Yes, in many ways they are. You have the wholesome wives that just want to take care of their husband and children. Then you have the drama, glamorous type wives.

Is is difficult to keep the same friends that you grew up with?

It can be hard, especially if they are not making moves or progress in their lives.

On another note, What type of  music do you listen to?

I’m diverse, I listen to Gospel, R&b, Hip-hop, Opera, and Classical. It is important to be cultured.

What are some words of advice and encouragement that you are willing to share?

For one, I don’t believe in competing with other publicists. I share resources.  It is important to surround yourself with people who are on the same level that you strive for. Remember that people are always watching you. How do you wish to represent yourself?

Any last words…

I love and care for my players, and I love what I do.

Michael Vick-Second Chance Gone Good!

Mike Vike is a contender for MVP in the NFL. What, can you believe it, I’m no avid sports fan, but everyone knows the story. Mike Vick accused of Dog fighting , jail-time, and shame for him and for his family. We got rid of McNabb and The Eagles could go to the Super Bowl with Mike Vick leading the way. After the Eagles come from behind win against the NY Giants last sunday, Sky is the limit for the Eagles (no Jinks) Do I believe in second chances? Hell Yes!Will everyone forgive Vick for his past?  Hell No! Hope and Superbowl rings can change the most stubborn heart and mind. ~mimihoney

Donovan McNabb Greeted with More Cheers than Jeers!

image

I watched some of yesterday’s Eagles game. They lost to their former Quarterback, Donovan McNabb. Not really a sports fan, but Yoyoprstar is. As I’m watching the media coverage, outside of Philly mind you, they kept saying, crowd gives Donovan a standing ovation. The media was surprised and shocked. I mean damn, Donovan was our quaterback for 11 seasons. They really expected the Philly fans to wild out. Philly fans get a bad rep. Philly fans are the most passionate sports fans, one will ever meet. They eat, sleep, live Philly sports. So get off our backs.

GUESS WHO?

Its Miss Keri Baby herself. She will be on tommorow’s episode of When I Was 17 series on MTV. Do you think Keri Hilson was as conceited at 17 as she is now? Lol! She was a cute girl back then, why am I not surprised that she was an athlete in high school. I say that because she is very competitive now.
What y’all think?
