Formerly known as Mud Run MS Philly, MuckRuckus is a race where teams of participants tackle a muddy obstacle course. This is one of our popular fundraisers with over 5,000 muck runner participants. Each muck runner has a minimum fundraising goal and we expect to raise over $1million this year!
There are plenty of jobs! When you complete your volunteer registration form you will be asked to select a volunteer position. Each position has many different jobs available such as check-in, set-up, clean-up, putting medals on race finishers, manning the water aid stations, the kid’s fun area, etc. We ask that you please be flexible as volunteer job assignments may change the day of the race depending on our needs. We will not, however, place you anywhere that you feel uncomfortable.

Please join by volunteering as we celebrate Women’s History Month. Here are several local organizations that serve women and girls and rely on volunteer support. Please see below to learn more about how to get involved.
Continuing a partnership started around our recent 16th Annual King Day of Service, we are working with Progeny’s Legacy Jamaa, an arts and cultural organization that teaches the history of the people of the African Diaspora through caring for the community. This March project will offer opportunities to serve mothers and their children in transition by creating care bags.
On March 18, in preparation for Mayor Michael Nutter’s 4th annual Philly Spring Clean Up, we will partner with Keep Philadelphia Beautiful to host the Community Appearance Index Program Launch. The Community Appearance Index program will help Philadelphia residents chart the progress of their neighborhoods in reducing blight. Philadelphia Block Captains, civic-minded residents, and concerned citizens are encouraged to join us.

Progeny’s Legacy Jamaa
Starting March 1
Progeny’s Legacy Jamaa is a newly-emerging arts and cultural organization that seeks to teach the history of the people of the African Diaspora through caring for the community.
As part of the 16th Annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service, Progeny’s Legacy Jamaa partnered with the Philadelphia Museum of Art to coordinate a project where care bags were created for new teen mothers and mothers in transition.
This project has turned into a year-round effort and the organization is now looking for participants to get involved by making a donation of goods to fill care bags or by volunteering to help create the care bags (this will involve sewing).
The care bags will be donated to mothers who receive services at organizations such as Jane Addams Place, My Sister’s Place, The Elect Program, and Educating Communities for Parenting.

MLK365 and Keep Philadelphia Beautiful are partnering to introduce the Community Appearance Index, a new tool for Philadelphia Block Captains and other civically engaged residents.During this meeting several new granting programs aimed at helping communities will also be presented.
The Community Appearance Index (or CAI) complements the Litter Index with several additional visual surveys that will help you chart your neighborhood’s progress over time. The data obtained through the CAI is geared toward helping communities determine the types of community improvement programs needed to address current conditions, and achieve long-term sustainable results.

What better way to celebrate Dr. King’s life, then to uplift and help someone. The city of Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Deleware is holding its 16 annual MLK day of service at Girard College. Also this is a kid friendly event, so bring the little ones out.
